I have a beautiful and sunny office in the serene environment of the Bikram Yoga Westfield studio. It has a functional kitchen cart with hot burners, cutting board and tools. I use it to perform short cooking demos and create simple dishes with my clients as needed. I host Group Programs and occasional Wellness Events (see Upcoming Events) in the studio’s big lobby.

My partnership with Bikram Yoga Westfield allows my clients to participate in the other health-supportive activities offered at Holistic Massage and Bikram Yoga. Clients can enjoy the benefit of going from one activity to the other before or after we meet. What is Bikram Yoga?

Bikram’s Beginning Yoga class is a demanding series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises done in a heated room suited for all ages and levels of ability. It is done in a heated room to facilitate deeper stretching, to reduce the chance of injury and to stimulate the circulatory system while cleansing and flushing the body of toxins. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints needed for the next posture. The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands, and nerves by moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body and restoring all systems to a healthy working order. Bikram scientifically designed this 90-minute program to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness and injury, as well as to promote weight loss and limit the effects of aging. In addition, this series of postures combines skills of concentration, patience, determination and self control, which lead to increased mental clarity and reduced stress.

A regular practice of Bikram Yoga also improves body posture and spine alignment. It relieves back pain and headaches, strengthens muscles, reduces symptoms of chronic disease, increases self confidence, improves body image, improves flexibility, balance and strength and gives a general feeling of wellness and peace. A committed practice of Bikram yoga will result in the realization of the true meaning of yoga: a union of the body, mind and spirit.

What is Holistic Massage?

In order to create more profound results, and a deep sense of wellbeing and balance, a massage needs to take into account every aspect of a person’s life. Julien Griffault, graduate of Health Choices Holistic massage school and member of the American Massage Therapy Association, offers a unique massage experience integrating various massage techniques adapting to each client’s needs. These techniques include Shiatsu, Neuromuscular, Aromatherapy, Deep tissue, Swedish as well as various forms of energy work. He is a nationally certified massage therapist and holds additional certifications in Reiki, Hot & Cold Stone Massage, Chair Massage and IET (Integrative Energy Technique). Whatever the approach, his intention is to relieve stiffness, tension, chronic pain and overall stress. With your input, he is able to tailor your massage in order to achieve the optimum mind-body balance.
